1 year, 304 since the start of the 1st lock down in March 2020
It was back in the car today and I was driving again. The car is actually quite good with reversing camera but as we discovered when the SatNav turned itself off, there is a problem with the charging ports and none of them work. We ended up navigating into Faro using my phone and Colin holding it so I could check it - not the safest way of doing it. I found the car park that I had identified as a good place to park and it was very large with many free spaces and best of all was free!
Faro is a nice little town but we were so surprised that virtually every restraint and shop was closed. I know it is a Sunday but I had expected there to be a bit more life. We wandered around and I spotted a little Ringed Plover on the estuary. We were getting pecking and so after I had spent some time photographing the many storks on the older buildings, we looked for somewhere - well anywhere that we could get some food. There wasn’t even a supermarket open. Eventually by luck we found the shopping centre and a single snack place that was open. It was an interesting ordering system and it turns out that each choice of what we thought was tapas was actually a mini French roll. They were quite nice and filling at least although a lot of bread!
Having exhausted the highlights of Faro we drove back to Olhao having worked out how to program the in-car SatNav. Sadly during the process of getting back into the car in a bit of a rush as I was chilly and I lost my faithful blue face mask of nearly 2-years that I got from Squires in May 2020 - it seemed daft to drive all the way back to Faro to try and find it in the car park but I was quite disappointed.
Not wanting another trawl around the town looking for somewhere to eat, we drove straight to Pingo Doce and picked up some roast spatch-cock chicken and some strawberries for dinner - very nice and great value.
