1 year, 309 since the start of the 1st lock down in March 2020
We didn’t have to get up too early and certainly not at 4.10 am as I had last Thursday! We finished packing, had breakfast and for the last time filled the dishwasher! We were able to pack the car and leave it in position and after final checks and leaving the keys we walked down to the promenade for a couple Pingados. We pottered around and basked in what turned out to be the hottest day of our break so far - to the extent that I got too hot and had to sit in the shade! After a light lunch as we were still pretty full from last night, we headed back to collect the car and head back to the airport. My last drive and we even remembered to top up with fuel which despite all our trips was only €33.
Returning the car is always stressful but actually as I had worked out the route the night before it was not too bad and we were the only people there. The man gave it a somewhat cursory look before handing em the paperwork and we got the shuttle minibus back tot eh airport which was also pretty quiet despite being told that the flight was full and the aisle seat appearing to be occupied. In the event it was actually empty so yet again, as with our outbound flight, we had a spare seat which is basically exactly the same as Club class but a quarter of the price.
We flew in over London but I could not recognise any landmarks. Our luggage was some of the last out but did appear and Chris kindly met us at the airport and took us home which saved a taxi fare. All appears well, it is very cold but Pingado came out and seems very pleased to see us.
