Fat Fighters this morning and 2lbs off so I’m now back in the losing game having kicked off the Portugal gain (the prawns and vinho verde were well worth it though!).
In the evening we caught the bus into Twickenham. My first stop was the Prosperity Cafe. This is a Ukrainian cafe that has temporarily stopped serving food whilst it organises supplies and first aid to go to Ukraine. It is unbelievable what Putin is doing and the beautiful cities are being obliterated as the Russians attempt in reach the capital of Kiev or as we are now supposed to call it Kyvy. I had a lovely thick waterproof winter jacket delivered in error from Mountain Warehouse which they did not want back. I left the tags on to show it was new and I think the people were really pleased. There is a limit to what we can do to immediately help and this small gesture makes me feel good and I sincerely hope it helps some poor woman who I cannot imagine how she will be feeling to see her home destroyed, to lose everything including possibly her husband.
After this we walked to Church Street where we had arranged to meet our friend Robert and Sue in the Eel Pur pub and the. For a meal in Tsaretta restaurant - the place that bought two of my Twickenham montages! In the event the pub was packed and we did not want to risk being infected with Covid which, despite the lack of reporting, is sharply on the rise again. We met them and headed straight for the restaurant.
We were looked after by the deputy manager as Simon the owner was not in that evening and we were seated right under my print!!
The meal was exceptional, a really different take on Indian food and beautifully presented. When we eventually left we had been there for 4 hours talking continuously. It was a really lovely evening.
