2 years and 145 days since the start of the 1st lock down in March 2020.
A few months ago Colin’s old boss - the person who was responsible for agreeing to my secondment to the Met Police from the Home Office and therefore my meeting Colin - invited us to his 70th birthday celebrations at Bearwood Lakes Golf Course in Berkshire.
I drove there and Colin promised to drive back. It was a very exclusive and clearly expensive golf club with a stunning view over the course from the veranda.
We had hoped there would be a number of Colin’s ex colleagues and friends from when he worked at the police but there were actually only two people we knew there. Peter was not an easy person to work with and I think a number of people may have used the excuse of being in the holiday season and a rail strike not toe come on the night.
It was nice to catch up and the bar was free I enjoyed a few glasses of Malbec as Colin was driving back. We eventually left around 10.00 and took a somewhat circuitous route home!
