Up at a decent time this morning as I had arranged an eye test at Specsavers in Richmond for 9.55am. I have been having headaches for a while and the glasses I got from my last optician, despite changing lenses once have been pretty useless. I was certainly impressed with optician who spent an hour with me and confined there is no serious underlying problem after a scan and I am getting a ’bog-off’ on glasses - buy one get one free.
After all that letter identification I needed a coffee and so we arranged to meet Colin’s friend whose wife is very poorly at our favourite cafe. Basically she is now receiving palliative care at home and it’s a waiting game. I am glad we managed to persuade him out whilst his daughter was there and made him share an Eccles cake as he has lost a lot of weight.
We said goodbye to John and decided to visit Kew Gardens using our Boundless cards giving his free entry. I had read about a ‘Day of the Dead’ Mexican art installation which really was amazing - see the montage as evidence. It was so mild that we could sit outside on a bench opposite the Palm House eating our Tescos meal deal lunch - classy.
