Some months ago I had booked a ticket to see the Gaia exhibition on the very day of reopening and booked another two tickers to visit towards the end of the show along with Colin. Whilst he headed out to golf, I sorted out the camera, packed some things to take to Kingston and walked round the the Landmark Centre allowing for the ten minute entry. I was fifth in the queue (luckily in the shoe of the building) and my friend Alan Ralph joined just behind me. There was a sense of anticipation.
We were let in at the dot of ten and I got to give another friend Lesley - past Administrator of the Landmark a hug as she was working as a volunteer.
Wow. We saw Like Jerram’s ‘Moon’ in Greenwich in January which was impressive but somehow this was more moving. There was a soundtrack of the astronauts words as they saw the world from space for the first time. The globe was suspended in the centre of the Landmark and people were almost to daunted to walk underneath.
It was beautiful and special to share the moment with others, I met friends and a photo club member as well! I actually stayed for nearly three quarters of an hour photographing and enjoying the display. I really felt calm in the space.
This feeling was somewhat shattered afterwards when I queued to get the 281 bus into Kingston to change Colin’s trousers, pick up some things I had ordered from John Lewis and then search for a belt to got with a dress I plan to wear to my photo club summer function.
I’m looking forward to my second visit later in the month.
