28th March 2013

Is this a sign of Spring? One of my favourite spring garden flowers is the Grape Hyacinth, I used to pull the blue beadlets off of them when I was a child - how destructive!

These are the first flowers this year from some bulbs in a terracotta bowl. My mum gave me the bowl a number of years ago for the postage stamp sized garden of my old flat. Despite absolutely no care on my part, the flowers always come up each year to brighten our garden.
Very pretty!

A nice focus on this flower - we call them match heads - heaven knows why - they are not red!

Envy you spring coming ahead. Like the angle you took these flowers. Makes them seem like they are queen of the mountain.

@ladyp thank you @maggiemae actually now you've said that, they DO look like match heads in shape, albeit blue not red! @pam1 this is the ONLY sign of Spring here, we are having the coldest Spring/March since 1963 and tomorrow is technically the start of British Summer Time as the clocks go forward an hour... someone needs to tell 'Mother Nature'!!
