This has to be one of the most difficult photographs to date on my 365 Project... here's Milford!
Milford is my pet hamster and the latest in a long line of hamsters that I have kept over the last 19-years. He was a year old a few days ago but refused to come out to be photographed on his birthday. He's a short haired Syrian and is enjoying a banana chip here. Not the best quality image but considering I used 2000 ISO and he was just lit by a central bulb it hasn't come out too badly!
@steampowered@maggiemae thank you - re. the ISO, that is one of the main features I wanted from the new camera, better ISO performance. I would normally not have gone over 400-500 with my last camera but this is impressive at 2000 (quality not the photo!). Milford does look a bit like a mouse, all my past hamsters have had unusual colouring. He's so friendly but needs camera training, I cannot tell you how many blurred shots and completely empty frames I took!
@maggiemae I should also have mentioned about his name... my last hamster - Jasper - passed away when we were in New Zealand last March. I tend to name them after places we have been (back from a Canadian trip to the Rockies when we got Jasper). Well, as we really enjoyed exploring the Te Anau area of South Island and as Doubtful wasn't a great name we went for Milford instead (as in Sound)!!
Awwwww Milford is adorable! The 5D Mark III seems to do an awesome job with high ISO - thanks for letting me know about the cash back - I am going shopping this week! :)
This is a beautiful shot. The softness captures his character. Love the way he is holding the chip.In spite of the high ISO - it doesn't seem grainy and you can see all his whiskers and hair. Your new camera is doing well. That is why you got it. Envy you.
Cute shot
