Our car went in for a service and MOT today at our local 'Apollo' garage, handily a 1-minute walk down the back lane or a 2-minute drive the long way. The guys are great here and have even walked up the lane and through our house on occasion if we've had a big problem with the car! What always strikes me is how clean their garage is... no pools of oil anywhere.
It is an independent business and although they wrote off my trusty 18-year old Polo a number of years ago (explaining that with a holed fuel tank and all wheel bearings gone it was not worth repairing!!), we always use them for MOTs and services. John, Mick and Les are particularly partial to Victoria sponge cake so I make sure they are supplied every couple of months!
Oh, you are good with Victoria's sponge! The way to a mans heart, etc! They used to be dreaded visits with some of the old cars that I had but now with a new one, no problems!
A good garage is a real godsend. Our local one is great. They drive me home when I drop my car off and bring my car back afterwards. Keep providing the cakes I say
