20th September 2013

A rather grey day today and we took a bus tour of the city to see the sights of Al Capone and other gangsters from the 1920's and 30's so not many opportunities for photos... until this evening!

We walked along the shore of Lake Michigan (massive) and then from Navy Pier into the city and back to Northside. The sunset was stunning although with so many tall buildings we just caught glimpses. The light was amazing.

I had not brought my tripod out so I racked the ISO up to 400 and the aperture open to between 2.8 and 3.5 to try and avoid camera shake - no heavy post processing, just lightening a little and bringing up the shadows.

If you have time, here are some other images from our evening walk - https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.612973702088648.1073741890.186301661422523&type=3&uploaded=8

@tristansmum You are too kind! It really was this colour but would have been a bit brighter if I had had my tripod with me and could have used a longer exposure. We're still on schedule to arrive in Toronto on the 2nd of October (from Montreal). Will email you nearer the time to see if you are free :-)
