Seabass fisherman by etienne

Seabass fisherman

This picture, that I made earlier this summer, might not be possible next year anymore, as it is now considered to ban definitely recreational seabass fishing starting from end of next month, in order to further protect the species. On the other end, the same regulator is rejecting the request from nature defense associations to ban industrial seabass netting over the spawning areas during the spawning season. He is also maintaining a smaller minimum capture size for professional fishing than the one currently allowed for recreational fishing, and he has recently increased the limits of industrial fishing zone virtually until seashore in our area. It is difficult to see any logic in nature protection regulations, except for the winning influence of powerful industrial lobbies.
It's refreshing to see that the USA is not alone in ill-advised legislation, based on powerful lobbies.

Your narrative rings true for some decisions over here too. It doesn't seem to make sense and it really makes you wonder about the decision making process. I like the composition in your image. :)

Like you, I don't get it. But I suspect it's the usual story of money speaking louder than words (or anything else much).
