The Quarters

Slave quarters, Evergreen Plantation, Egard, Louisiana
Excellent capture of a historical place. How much history is covered under the canopy of these trees. FAV.

The beautiful trees belie the conditions in which the slaves lived and worked. But these homes are also a testimony to the resilient force of human will. Thankfully they are no longer occupied!

I like the shot, but not sure what it is that has drawn me to it - I like how the trees are framed, but that they don't take away from the road, the homes or the feel of the photo. Very clever shot.
