ABC's of Fort Pierce, Florida: V is for Visionaries
Bud Adams, of Adams Ranch in Fort Pierce, spoke briefly at a barbecue at his ranch, one of the neatest things I attended in my three years in Fort Pierce. His father founded the ranch after acquiring some land during the Depression; as Bud told it, "He figured out a way to make money from grass. He raised cattle." The family continues to raise cattle naturally in a cow/calf operation, producing organic beef. They develop new breeds of cattle, work to conserve land, and give back to the community.
