Baton Rouge National Cemetery

J Preche, who died in 1863 during the Civil War, was a Union soldier from New York. I always think it is so sad that these men died so far from home (more died from disease than from battle wounds) and their families could not even visit their graves.

With this series of cemetery pictures, I am coming out as a taphophile, a person interested in cemeteries. Not to be confused with a necrophile or even a ghost hunter. Cemeteries can be peaceful, interesting places, but I still get funny looks when I admit my obsession.
a beautiful cemetery ...and a beautiful shot with the light and shadows

Beautiful cemetery and yes, very sad to be buried that far from home.
