We live in such different places now, our son and us: Louisiana and New Mexico. He grew up in Louisiana but he and his wife have decided not to live here, for many reasons (we rank #50 of the states on many lists because of important things like education.) When he visits, he catches up on the things he misses: he fishes, eats Cajun food, attends LSU games. And when we visit his family, we marvel at New Mexico: the desert, the light, the architecture and--most of all--our grandkids. And grand dogs.
