How's ya mama and them?

Dr. Lisa Delpit grew up in racially segregated Baton Rouge in a house (not this one) located next door to her father's restaurant, Chicken Shack. Her 10-word story evokes a picture of her family gathering at the restaurant. I don't know much about the 10-word story project, but the words and street art brighten some of our declining neighborhoods. And then someone defaces the project. . . .

My city is reeling from over a dozen shootings in the last few days. Photography is one of my ways of trying to understand why we are so prone to violence. Needless to say, I haven't come up with any answers but I continue to learn about the deep divisions caused by poverty and racism.
Interesting- not sure what the hashtag directs you to, but the picture definitely tells a story with the contrast of the colorful door and it's unusual words and the covered over window. Good eye to spot this one.

@olivetreeann Thanks. I couldn't find anything about the hashtag, either.

I agree fully with Ann. I can't see the connection between the three sentences/phrases

So powerful. Delpit has a lot to say and your image elaborates on her words well.

In high school my son’s class had to write six-word memoirs and just last week I saw a 10-word story painted on a building in DC. I love than you can give a powerful message in just a few words.
