Under our coronavirus shelter-at-home order, we are allowed to go out to buy essential items like food. Fresh Market has a special hour for seniors and other high-risk people, from 8:00 to 9:00 am, AND they still have their Tuesday specials on chicken and ground beef. I was almost the only customer there, unlike other Tuesdays when people line up at the butcher counter.
Wow! Most of our grocery stores don’t have any meat and many limit the number of things, like canned tuna, that you can get. My friend just told me that the wait to get your groceries delivered is two weeks.
@wiesnerbeth Fresh Market had meat but were limiting the amount each customer could buy. They didn't have much bread, though. I've been using Walmart's pickup service for a few weeks. Last week they cancelled my order and this week I could not even schedule a pick-up time. Good luck shopping!
@wiesnerbeth Fresh Market had meat but were limiting the amount each customer could buy. They didn't have much bread, though. No one seems to. I've been using Walmart's pickup service for a few weeks. Last week they cancelled my order and this week I could not even schedule a pick-up time. I'm lucky to have 2 grandchildren here who can go to the store so I don't have to get out often.
@eudora It's good that you have helpers! I still have some chicken and a package of hamburger in my freezer. The last time I went to the grocery store -- 10 days ago maybe -- the only meat they had was really expensive steak and salmon. I wish I had gotten more salmon -- there was no limit on that! Stay safe!
It's been an odd experience shopping around here. I like to make out a list of what I'm going to make for dinner each week and only buy what I need but now I'm having to change plans when I get to the store if most of the ingredients are unavailable. It's so strange! So far though everyone I encounter shopping is nice and respectful. Hopefully that will continue!
