True Friends Benevolent Association Hall by eudora

True Friends Benevolent Association Hall

Donaldsonville, Louisiana

I thought this was an old store, but while processing the photo I saw an inscription, "TFBA Hall." Google led to an article describing the benevolent association, an African American society founded in 1880 to help members with healthcare and funeral expenses. The hall was a community center and venue where young musicians often got their starts. Fats Domino played there!

A local museum was trying to raise money to preserve this and other historic buildings, but the museum is currently closed due to the pandemic.
Interesting info, interesting to see too!
