Strange photo for Earth Day, I know. But there is currently an environmental justice dispute in St. James Parish between a chemical company with plans to build a huge plastics plant and the citizens of the parish, many of them poor people of color. We talk about these things a lot in our family, as my husband in a retired chemical engineer who worked in the petrochemical industry.
I skimmed the article and your photo certainly is very appropriate for Earth Day based on that! It will be interesting to see how this ends up based on the current political climate!
It's such a challenge to balance industry, community and industry. Hopefully everybody involved here will find a solution that works best for all. Love these old buildings.
