It's for sale but only as a part of a much larger package including two larger houses and multiple dependencies, filled with antique furnishings and collections. The owners would like the property to stay intact and be used as a center for study and research. It has been for sale for a couple of years and the price has dropped considerably, to $2.5 million. I feel sad for the octogenarian owners, leaving this labor of love, having trouble finding buyers who will treasure it as they have.
@grammyn I have read about it for years but never been inside any of the buildings. Because it was their private home, it was not open to the public. It is so isolated that I doubt it would do well as a house museum, but there is a group trying to find a way to preserve it.
