I've had the good fortune to participate in two writer's workshops given by the Baton Rouge Arts Council. Many of the group are retired but all bring unique experiences and perspective. Among the group are an artist, a professor, a lawyer/teacher/environmental activist, a retired engineer who has published four novels, a retired prison guard, a memoirist working to preserve the stories of dementia patients--fascinating people!
Lovely group of people. A writer's workshop sounds interesting.
I thought of you tonight after the Iowa women's basketball team won their game and will play LSU on Sunday in the NCAA championship game. I connected you to LSU because of where you live and because you mentioned that pelicans land in the lakes near LSU. You might not follow the LSU women's basketball team but I've watched them play on TV. They are very good and I love the way their coach has dressed in fun pink tops with feathers and ruffles! (But of course I hope Iowa can beat them!)
@lynnz I thought of you, too, when I saw that LSU would face Iowa. I only know a few people from Iowa, but I hoped they would beat SC since SC was favored and I like underdogs. Tomorrow's game should be great! I have admired the LSU women's basketball program for years because they used to visit inner city schools to encourage the girls to participate in sports. It meant a lot to those girls.
Sounds both inspiring and daunting! They look like immensely interesting people and I'm sure your interaction with them is both inspiring and creative. Great group portrait!
i used to belong to a writing group, we were so diverse and the stories are never the same even when they're in similar veins. so, when do we get to buy your book?
