A lot of the street art in Baton Rouge depicts the history of the community. Before the bus boycott in Montgomery, Alabama, there was a similar boycott here. I had never seen this mural so I had no idea that a Black service station owner, Horatio Thompson, provided free gas during the boycott.
That's really cool- he was such a positive force in his local community. I hope they give the area around this mural a clean-up so that he continues to be honored for that.
