We've been out of touch with the rest of the world for a few days. Our power was restored this afternoon and I am catching up with 365, the news and the heartbreaking photos of Matthew's damage north of us.
The Saturday Farmers Market in Fort Pierce opened as usual this morning, but with less than half the usual vendors. There was a live band filling in for the regularly scheduled second-Saturday band. Many of the shoppers were escaping homes with no power, but most of us had little damage. There was an almost giddy air of thankfulness, friendly chatter and concern for people not as lucky as we were.
A beautiful, peaceful scene. So glad you escaped. My friends in NC were not so fortunate and they weren't even expecting the hurricane to hit them particularly hard.
