The Changing Colors by exposure4u

The Changing Colors

I took a drive partway up the Pikes Peak Highway and couldn't believe some of the aspens are already changing! I love the fall colors, but certainly want summer to stay! There was even a dusting of snow on the Peak.
Beautiful!!

Spectacular shot! I know that it will be amazing when all of the aspens are brilliant yellow. Not sure I'm ready to hear the "s" word. :)

@cheyrebecca Thank yo Cheyenne! So excited to hear you get to come for the gymnastics meet!! That is so awesome! I sure hope you get to see some of the sights here in the Springs while you are here! The weather is so unpredictable in February, but it is usually beautiful with the snow on the mountains! Good luck too in advance on your meet!!

Wonderful shot, I have a question about your HDR. What software do you use. Do you use a tripod or just handheld for most. I am reading The HDR Book by Rafael Concepcion and he suggests mirror lock up and tripod. I was wondering if you do any of that or just handhold and no lock up. Do you usually use 3 shots or more? Thanks, Terri

stunning landscape shot..

@morrisphotos Thank you so muchTerri! I use Photomatix for my HDR. They offer a free trial you can download. Just go to http://www.hdrsoft.com/ for their information. I have been impressed with how user friendly the software is from this company.
I try to use a tripod, but I don't always have it handy and for this shot I didn't use it, because I hiked up the side of this hill to get what I wanted in the shot. I use 3 shots and bracket my exposures. My camera actually does this for me and I can set the bracketing at the stops I want (ie. 1/2, +1, -1, +2, -2, ....). If your camera does this, it makes it much easier to do handheld, otherwise I suggest a tripod for sure!. I also set my camera on high speed continuous, so I can take 3 fast shots, hopefully without hand shake! Ideally, the tripod is the way to go.
I hope this helps and if you have anymore questions, I'll be happy to help! It's been lots of fun and hope you enjoy playing around with it!

Beautiful capture of this stunning scene.

@exposure4u Thanks, for the help. I shoot Canon so my camera only does 3 in exposure bracketing. I will use a tripod but I think I will set my own brackets. I am thinking that for most things you need more than the 3 my camera will let you get automatically. I might try the Photomatix. Right now I just have CS5 for doing HDR.
