When Seasons Collide
Taken along Kebler Pass near Crested Butte, Colorado. Just an amazing scene driving this pass after it snowed the night before. The red colors seem to be more prevalent this year and I understand it may be due to the amount a rain we had this past summer.
This is just stunning, Wendy. I've taken this drive along Kebler Pass several time (found it in one of John Fielder's books) - though usually about a week earlier - we're back home by this time. Remember this area as having some brilliant reds, but definitely not this much. How beautifully they show against the snow. Lovely shot.
@milaniet Thank you Milanie! Can you believe this was my first time on Kebler! I will definitely be returning and hope to catch the wildflowers there sometime too! Thank you again!
@aecasey Thank you so much April! I hope it doesn't change their brilliance, but often times a frost and snow will cause the leaves to turn brown. I headed to Ridgway that evening, so not sure how the snow effected this area.
Beautiful shot! You learn to never head to the mountains without cold weather gear in the car. Anything can happen at altitude...and it generally does!
The much needed rain for your area has truly been a blessing, in many ways including giving you this scene rich in color, texture and detail. Beautiful capture.
@kwind Thank you so much for your comments and fav!!
