Century barn by farmreporter

Century barn

Seven generations have lived here since they arrived from Scotland in 1817. The 5th generation, took a great deal of pride in this bank barn which was built in 1892, with the longer stable portion added on in 1927. It was this generation who straightened and braced the barn as well as replacing the footings. The barnyard is kept in immaculate condition with the flowers planted on the retaining wall between the two sections. The cupola, is a replica of the original cupola, was built by the 6th generation who still milks Holsteins in this barn located on Kenyon Concession 16 of the Indian Lands south and west of Maxville.
What a beautiful, tidy barn! I like that you shot it against a cloudy sky -- it seems to accentuate its age and staying power.

Wonderful history here & lovely how this place has been looked after & added to over the years! A credit to the family & justification of that massive decision to emigrate all those many years ago.
