I knew that this flock of turkeys hangs out in this area. I knew that I would be able to grab a quick picture on my way into town when time is a precious commodity.
They are the same flock as my picture elusive birds. http://365project.org/farmreporter/365/2013-03-28
One of these fine days I will be able to catch a closer picture of them - it's just a matter of time!
I hunt with a camera!
Are these turkeys edible Wendy...my sons in NZ say there wild turkeys aren't fit to eat full of worms etc...not the same as Christmas turkeys! I like to see them in gangs like this a better life than a special bred for the pot one!!
@happypat People do hunt these birds, and eat them. They are all dark meat, and supposed to be very moist and tasty.
I am sure that there is the occasional wormy one, but, in general, our wild turkeys are supposed to be very good.
They should be! They steal enough corn and grains from the farmers - I have posted pictures of them right in with the cows when I feed them. These birds are not hungry at all!
