Pork barn by farmreporter

Pork barn

Ralph Humphries built two nursery barns designed to meet the special needs of newly weaned piglets in 2003. Weaning is as stressful time for piglets so these barns have heated floors and soft lighting to ensure that the piglets can grow healthy and strong in a stress free environment. The piglets grow at about a pound a day for the six weeks they are housed in this barn. There are four rooms per barn to accommodate separation of different ages of piglets, and allowing for ease of cleaning and disinfection between groups. The barns are located on Hwy. 34 north of Lancaster.
Very interesting in how they raise the piglets! Beautiful barn and amazing tractor.
