The hay producer that owns this fine barn easily remembers the year (1972) he built it since it was the worst year Glengarry had for making hay with first cut coming off in September. While he and his wife still predominately grow horse hay for the Florida market they also grow some beans and wheat. The barn was used for dairy until 1989 but they now calve out their Belted Galloway-Red Angus cross beef cattle and keep goats in the barn. Located high on a hill overlooking the train tracks on County Road 23 just north of Glen Sandfield , this farm is one of the many century farms in Glengarry.
It certainly is a fine barn. Such crisp clean snow too. It's just so muddy here at the moment that I even find myself wishing for snow. What am I thinking?!
