Shadow with Shed by farmreporter

Shadow with Shed

I was asked to go through my Favorites album and replicate some of them.
I really liked the narrow depth of field in Rob Wareham's portrait of a friend's dog. You could make out the steeple of a church, but it was soft and subdued.
I tried to replicate a church steeple from Alexandria as a background, but, unfortunately, the angle was all wrong so I used a pretty shed as a background instead.
Here is the link to Rob's photo to compare how I did - wish I could get Shadow to stand!

Oh yes I see what you have done here, very nice dof and beautiful portrait. You did own the shot: you took influence of the faved one but made the shot yours by not strictly copying it. Well done. I have few ideas about the hand shot, just waiting for weekend to get them done.

@susale Thanks for the comments - especially about taking ownership of the shot rather than copying someone else.
Looking forward to your hand shots.

Hi Wendy, yes agree with @susale it is really nice that you have used the key elements of what you liked in the picture and then made your own shot from those using the landscape about you.

If Shadow doesn't do standing, well that's a more authentic portrait of him.

Nicely done. How'd you get Shadow to gaze off into the distance and not at you? Good dog!
