Peanut line

Glengarry is crisscrossed with railway tracks, most of which are no longer used.
This particular track has a slow, short train make a round trip once a week. It is so seldom used that CN has not even bothered to put lights or guards at the road crossings, relying instead on track crossing signs to warn motorists of the track.
The train is manned only by an engineer and a brakeman, and one of the duties of the brakeman is to hop off the slow moving train (while it is in motion) at all blind road crossings to check for traffic before waving the train across the road and hopping back on.
@zosimasy Here is one that you may like, Charles!

Perfect timing! I love the positioning of the train, tracks, and trees. It was interesting to hear about such an unused track too.

That is incredible!

Looks great.

I love this story ... it is the sort of thing that happened in Ireland way back in my childhood. Your processing is so soft and just perfect for the picture.

@irisr The train shot is mostly SOOC - just a crop and the frame added to it. It was late in the day so the light was very soft Went to process it and there was nothing I could do to improve on it so I didn't!

The lighting is perfect for it. And the track lines are beautiful. Congrats on PP

Lovey shot Wendy, fav, is the name of the line any connection with cargo the trains would carry?

Lovely feel to this shot, I can hear this train trundling along along this lovely track just taking its time to get to its destination.

@stephanies No - I think the name is because the railway line is so small and underused! LOL!

Just fav!

Wendy I am your get pushed partner for the next week and went through your photos. There is a lot of favs! Most in color.
How about...
1 How about a b & w abstract photo or
2 A collage that tell something about who you as person or
3 Something unique to your community

Hope you find something you would like to do.

@sdutoit Thank you, Sylvia. I appreciate you giving me so many choices! And you are right - I do mostly colour shots so I think I will do a B&W abstract.
Even though I have been following you for a bit now, I will go through your album this evening and put on my thinking cap to issue your challenge then.

Great shot! I love trains and consider it a bonus to have to stop while one crosses the road. When I was young it was common for the brakeman to stop traffic at crossings and I didn't realize it still happened until I moved here to Glengarry.

Oh, wow, I've never seen anyone get off a train and do that. They don't do that here. They used to whiz right through the town we lived in in Illinois almost hourly, right through the middle of town. Thank goodness there were automatic crossing arms to stop traffic on the 4 major roads that crossed the tracks.
