Most jurisdictions I know have made it illegal for people to drive while looking at their hand held mobile devices, but not so while walking, biking, skate-boarding, or being otherwise mobile.
The vast majority of people I saw at the park yesterday where connected to their devices, but very disconnected to the gorgeous day and environment they were sailing through.
Sad indeed was the news reported yesterday of a woman who died after fracturing her skull in a fall from a bicycle while taking a selfie. MSN published the photo she took but did not live to see.
This drives me crazy. Whenever we drag him to Yellowstone my boyfriend spends so much of the time in the car on his phone. There's still plenty to see when we're moving! At least he eventually puts it down and only uses it for photos when we're stopped, unlike a lot of the tourists.
It's maddening how much time people spend on their mobiles while in the company of others or doing things that need their full attention, like riding a bike as here for example. I sometimes think adults are worse culprits than the kids! Give me my camera any day 😉
Like @wordpixman Arthur I was going to mention the unfortunate case of the lady on her phone taking a selfie, perhaps best to keep off them! Nice colours Wendy!
This is really so annoying and could get me started on another of my pet rants! Here in Australia councils are putting warning lights in pavements at traffic lights to warn people of traffic because there has been so many injuries and deaths from people stepping into traffic whilst on their devices. People are not taking responsibility for their own actions.
Such a good shot of someone moving. Good choice of shutter speed, that's for sure. The pop of his red bike and shirt really stand out. Let's hope he survives his ride, with all the texting going on!
Great photo. I know I am quite bad for using my phone when out and about as I listen to music on my phone. I definitely would not look at my phone when crossing a road.
Also twice I have seen people reading books while walking which made me smile - unfortunately I was not able to take photos of them as I was unsure of their age.

Thanks for all your comments. It appears that this happens the world over and it drives those of us with cameras in hand and the ability to communicate with more than 140 characters nuts.
If only there was a way to unite us. I know - we will start a Facebook page and see how many 'likes' we get! (Just joking - LOL!)
