We heat almost exclusively with wood using a wood stove in the basement.
It is such a nice and even heat that warms the tile and wood floors throughout the house that make walking barefoot a pleasure even on the coldest days!
Fabulous fire shot. Sounds wonderful. We had wood floors when we lived in NH, except the basement had no heat in it. Needless to say, that house was cold, beautiful but cold.
Yes... wood fires and stoves are a bit special.... there is all that logging, chopping and splitting to keep you warm before you burn it! And an extra warm glow if the logs come from a sustainably managed forest not too far away!
@yrhenwr Wood is coming from a maple bush that needs to be thinned and the dead trees taken out. I must admit that there is far too much logging in my area, but we get our wood from a sustainable bush.
