In 1847, from June to October, 234 Irish immigrants landed on the shores of Cornwall (Ontario, Canada) after leaving Ireland at the height of the Irish Potato Famine.
This monument was erected in memory of the 52 individuals who died that summer at the quarantine hospital located at Pointe Maligne, and in appreciation to those who cared for them.
For the get pushed challenge given to me by Angie @angiedanielle24 who asked me to photograph an interesting piece of street/town/city art and give it a unique 'twist' e.g. Angle, POV, processing'
I was able to take the photo of this particular piece from the side and get the Canadian flag included.
https://www.slrlounge.com/creating-double-exposures-camera-w-nikon-image-inspiration/ another how to link, it seems to work well if you think of one layer being your main subject, and the other a texture overlay, remember that dark areas in your first image will show the most of your second layer, but brights cancel each other out , silhouettes work well, but really the possibilities are endless
@angiedanielle24 Here is the first response to your challenge. I was not going to use it - it does not fit what I was thinking of as a sculpture. Turns out that there are not that many in my area that are not religious in tone.
@farmreporter I like it ! Are you very far from Ottawa? I saw some fabulous sculptures there but I was on a bus at the time so I couldn't get any good photos.
@angiedanielle24
Ottawa is one and a half hour away. My oldest lives there so I do get there occasionally but did not go this week.
It is a gorgeous city - one of my favorites!
