You know you have had a good season when there is hay left over from the previous year when you are baling hay fresh hay this year.
Hubby asked me to take a photo of the hay so that he could advertise it for sale on-line. There may be a buyer who needs extra hay every year. He could feed this stuff out first before his fresh hay and it would be fine.
and it is sooo stinky lol. I worked in a farm one year, I piled up hay int he barn and in the winter we fed the cows this wrapped hay. Your photo brings good memories
@adi314
It is stinky to us but cows and sheep love it! They go nuts when you unwrap a fresh bale!
I am driving a couple of charter trips into Ottawa the week of July 10th. Not sure where to and for how long, but I will probably be available for 4 hours a day that week.
Will keep you posted when I get more information on Tuesday. Maybe we can get together then.
During our severe drought (7 years) that ended in 2015, the ranchers drove to states up north to buy hay for their cattle. All the extra hay was grabbed up every year for several years.
White bales, we have black, green but never white! Feed is never wasted is it, as good as money in the bank. Crops have been very light in the UK thus year so far. Hot dry summer so far with no rain for weeks!
Like @happypat I have never seen this colour for baling before! They have been hay making like crazy around here with so much dry weather. I am constantly following the tractors and trailers with fresh hay bales, but food crops are not faring so well with no rain for a long time and very high temperatures.
@happypat@casablanca
I wonder why different parts of the world use different colours of plastic wrap for the hay. I would imagine that the darker colours would heat more and that is why the climates with more sun use white - though I am just speculating.
Too bad you are in a drought - it has been a good year for us so far with the heat finally coming this last week.
