I went on line to learn how to do split toning and got some conflicting instructions on how to do it with Lightroom ... namely regarding turning the photo to grayscale before applying split tone to it.
One site insisted that I turn the photo to grayscale and not to just apply B&W to it while another site said that grayscale is just a fancy term for B&W used by techno geeks.
Well - turns out that I could not find grayscale in Lightroom but I could find it in Photoshop.
I'm so confused ... LOL!
Anyway, this is my first attempt at split toning and a great learning experience. Thank you Annie @annied for giving me a challenge that pushed me to the technical editing side of things ... I really do need to concentrate on the post production side of things!

BTW - how are your internet problems coming along? Did you get them sorted out yet? Technology is a wonderful thing when it works - but so frustrating when it does not!
It has been interesting reading your experience with split tones and seeing your images. I need to research it some as I've not really seen the purpose in it. I've tried some split tone presets on images in LR, but really didn't care for the results.

I think there will be a time when it comes in handy with a particular photo - so it is good to know how to do it.
I find it difficult to get a nice 'balance' of high lights and shadows without one overwhelming the other.
