Eastern Larch or Tamarack by farmreporter

Eastern Larch or Tamarack

This tree completely confused me when I did a Google search to find out what type it is.Turns out they are one and the same according to my trusty 'Trees of North America' book.
Unlike most conifers, larches are deciduous. They prefer moist, boggy ground and their needles turn yellow in the fall.
I just loved the way the low autumn sun back lit and made them glow.
I love the Hackmatack (as I have always called it). It says "dare to be different."
