Dive Bombing Jay by farmreporter

Dive Bombing Jay

For Week 2 of the 52 Week challenge - Composition: Rule of Thirds with motion. It said that we already know what rule of thirds is but we had to show motion in our photo.
Well - I spent a good 20 minutes at my window trying to get a good shot of one of the hundreds of birds that were flying around the bird feeders. Chickadees were just too dang fast!
I discovered that I had to anticipate when they were going to take off and which direction they were going to go.
This is the best of the bunch! He was just a bit slow (or I was just a bit too quick on the shutter release!)
Lovely shot

I think you did quite well getting him just as he was starting his dive bomb.

I think you did well. It's obvious the jay isn't perched on a branch, therefore has to be in flight.
