Hot Day in July

Arnica @arnica17 challenged me to work with split toning this week for my get pushed challenge. This truly is a superb challenge for me because I have such a hard time finding the proper balance of when it is enough - or is it enough?
This shot was taken on a bright and sunshiny day which made all the colours super harsh and vibrant.
I found that I was able to soften the whole scene with split toning and giving it almost a vintage look.
Thank you for the challenge, Arnica @arnica17! It is a great concept to learn. It is so hard to decide which colours to use for the high lights and which to use for the shadows ... and how much saturation for each as well.
It was a perfect challenge for me!

This is wonderful. Great edits. It does have a vintage feel.

The edits add to the 'hot day' feel. Nicely done.

Wonderful - it certainly seems to make the flag the star

You did splendid here!

Your flag is quite the spot of movement & colour there in that tranquil spot! Fave.

I like this photo. I don't really "get" split toning. I've tried to use it unsuccessfully.

Nice one, I think it looks vintage too.

@randystreat
You and me both - I don't get split toning either. I have seen some pics with split toning where you cannot tell the difference and thought 'why?' and have also seen photos with dramatic split toning and thought the same thing - lol!!
I guess I am too much of a realist!!
