Mary Siegle @mcsiegle used Frank’s grandmother’s little red dictionary to come up with a word challenge. She stuck her finger in at random and her finger landed on the word ‘Dimension’ . A few words surrounding that: Dim, Dilemma, Diminutive, Dingy. Use one or more of those words as inspiration or theme. Extra points if you are able to use more than one of the words in the same photo.
I first wrote the dimensions of a box on a empty cardboard box and photographed it but that was such a dull (and dumb) shot.
I pondered this and decided that I wanted to show five dimensions at the same time - length , width, height, depth, as well as time.
So - follow me now - we have a Rubik's cube showing the width, height, and length hovering in space (depth) and the zoom burst effect is supposed to show time.
Tah - Dah, Mary!! We have dimensions solved!!
Thank you once again for making me put my thinking cap on! Now I have to go take an aspirin since my head hurts from thinking (just joking)
Here you go, Mary @mcsiegle! Thank you for another great challenge. Frank's grandmother's dictionary sure gives some great words (although I only used one word)
It would have been a dilemma to use dim or diminutive!
Hi Wendy, so glad to be partnered with you again : )
Thanks for all the lovely supportive comments and thankyou for the weekly sh*t list, too. The indoor challenge is timely as this week's weather is looking a trifle stormy - good plan to head indoors.
For your challenge, how do you fancy a go at rim lighting? Could be a handy two birds, one stone thing if you tag it for the Technique 108 challenge as well!
@valpetersen
What a great idea to give rim lighting a go. I have never done true rim lighting. I have always done back lighting that gives a lovely glow around the edge of the subject but never the dramatic rim lighting.
So - great idea!! Thank you!
You aced the challenge! So cleverly presented. Too bad I couldn't award the extra points for using more than one of the words, but we'll have to alter the "rules" to allow for extra points for extra dimensions. Mission well accomplished!
@gq There has been a change of plans and we are no longer going near Kelowna.
So sorry! I was looking so forward to this.
Maybe next year when I come out again.
