Fickle Free Lensing!! by farmreporter

Fickle Free Lensing!!

April @aecasey challenged me to give free lensing a try,
This is where you remove the lens from the camera and hold it close to the front while tilting the lens back and forth. It can give you some superb and interesting effects ... when done by someone more talented than me! LOL!!
Anyway - it was a great experiment even though I failed miserably! I found that I just could not get enough out of focus that the tutorial showed. And yes, I also tried doing this with flowers in my garden!
But, I did rather like this whimsical shot of my jar on the kitchen window sill with the bird house in the back ground.
The pink light on the right side of the photo is light leaking from around the lens.
@aecasey
Thank you for a brand new technique, April! It is more difficult than meets the eye!
I obviously did not get it right, but it was a real learning experience!

I am learning so much, never thought that is even possible to take a photo lens off and still take a photo. Cool effect

sounds like a procedure that is more luck than judgement? keep trying you may come up with something even better.

I think the lovely colored haze is the result of the free lensing. A soft image and a good one for your challenge. That's what it's all about - trying something new.

Hi Wendy - thank you for the challenge :)
For your challenge how about an image with silhouettes?

Well done

Wendy, we are get-pushed partners for this week. My challenge for you is to create an abstract. If you are up for it, and have never tried soap bubbles, that is one idea. There are quite a few tutorials on YouTube to guide you. Another idea is an oil and water abstract. DPS had a good tutorial for that. https://digital-photography-school.com/create-abstract-photos-oil-water-dish-soap/
But...my challenge is simply to create an abstract.
