It takes 40 gallons of maple sap to make 1 gallon of syrup, or 40 litres to make 1 litre, or 40 cups to make 1 cup. No matter what unit of measurement is used, there is a lot of sap to make one unit of sweet syrup!
There was steam billowing out of every sugar shack in the area today as sap was being boiled down and I was invited to make my annual trek to a good neighbours place.
