Just Hanging Around

There seems to be more tent caterpillars this year than I have ever seen before. They are nasty creatures, and will strip the leaves off of a sapling in a day.
The cocoon is now empty and dried out - the larvae grown up and on their way.
I'd be a little creeper out if came across one of these on my morning walk through our woods. Wouldn't have had a clue what it was. I take it tent caterpillars are a pest then 😕

Interesting name. We have bag works that do the same thing here.

It's an extremely bad year for us for gypsy moth caterpillars -- the weather conditions made it perfect for them.
