Spring time is a busy time for local hatcheries who supply quality chicks, turkeys, ducks, pheasants, and ready-to-lay hens for family farms throughout the countryside.
The chicks are sent to the local feed store in sturdy and insulated cardboard boxes all cozy and warm, ready for the farmer to pick up. They look crowded, but actually prefer to snuggle up to one another even if they had more room.
They are so cute, and they make a real racket with their chirping!
As a bonus, this shot is a response to Ron's get pushed challenge to me to capture new life on the farm, These are not my chicks - ours will come in looking just like this on April 22.
Here's another shot at new life on the farm, Ron @stray_shooter. It was taken today (22nd) but posted here on the 18th to fit the March words calendar.

Thanks for stopping by. I can hardly wait until we get our chicks in April. It is just a little too cold to get them yet.
they are so cute, but could be dangerous. do you know that some people give them to young children for pet, unaware that they could be carrying salmonella? not only dangerous for kids but for the chicks, too! lovely bright yellow!
