August Alphabet Words - Abstract

I have no idea what this sculpture was supposed to be and there was no plate to explain its' meaning either.
I rather reminded me of a globe or a sundial with the pole mounted on top. But then, not really.
I guess it is an abstract. It will work for my word of the day I guess!

I first looked at this and thought the design was in metal, then I realized it was cut out. It reminds me of a gear or something.
