110 W 20th. NYC. 10011

Window at Kleinfeld. It's that bridal shop on that show Say Yes to The Dress.

I never dreamed of that white wedding dress or big wedding when I was a girl. In fact, I didn't really think or plan on getting married either. Just thought I'd have a life partner of sorts. And I also thought if I got married, I wanted a long engagement and not get married until I was 35.

Well I got married at 29, he was 34. Eloped. He went from being my boyfriend to husband. So much for that long engagement and getting married at 35. Sometimes I forget the actual date I got married. Lol. Wore a sundress that cost $60 and flip flops. Said our vows on a secluded beach on the North Shore of Hawai'i. Just me, the hubs, and the person who married us at sunset.

Anyhooo...

Having a girls night tonight. Quite different from our outing in the summer. This time the ones who are mothers will be bringing their kids. Should be a lovely time.

Our last outing was here:

This time we'll be out in Queens. And no hanging out until 3 AM like and dancing and drinking like we are 23 again. Lol.
Really cool shot. Love the processing, too. I'd love to see a shot of you at sunset in your flipflops and dress getting married in HI. I'll bet it was gorgeous.

I always disliked the white wedding gown. When I was a little girl, I told my Dad this. He then said I could wear anything I wanted to--that it was the marriage that mattered and not what we wore. Wise man he was! (And so, when I got married, I wore a blue gown!)

Fantastic..lots of things going on in this photo..reflections..bits and pieces and yet still focused on the white white gown. Very interesting and creative.. a truly remarkable montage.

@amandal thanks, Amanda! We only have one shot of us when we got married. The sunset and the beach was really beautiful. I have more pics of the scenery than of us lol. Well there was no one but the pastor who married us to take our picture.

@mcmary I too never saw the appeal in a white wedding gown. It's not for me but I understand people some do want it. I actually don't get the whole big wedding thing either. I would rather save the money for a house or some other type of investment. So you wore blue, eh? Light or dark blue?

@tosee hey, Tom! Thanks for noticing all the reflections and layers to this photo. Sometimes I think my photos get lost with the amount I write. I was quite drawn to the reflections of the window and the window display itself. You can't tell from this photo but it has revolving mirrors in it. Lots to look at. Thanks for noticing!

@fauxtography365 Darkish blue. Silk. Cut on the bias. Maybe someday I'll take a photo of a photo and tell the story of the dress, I was going to wear another blue gown-one specially made for the wedding--but, six days before the wedding, I changed my mind and went with a blue gown I already had.

Terrific B&W, I really like the reflections as well. While I enjoy your wordy words, I think I enjoy your photos equally as much; especially when you get tl;dr ;) LOL

Great photo. If I ever get married again, I would want to do it exactly like you did!

Love your capture and your wedding story. Mine is so long ago I barely remember it. Local church, during a regular evening mass, two witnesses and the rest of the congregation.
