'Pirate' Graves by fbailey

'Pirate' Graves

Two of the gravestones from the churchyard in Church Hougham - quite a few of the stones feature a skull and crossbones. Visiting children are told they are the graves of pirates - they actually mark the graves of plague victims ...
loving the mosses and lichens which have taken over the monuments/headstones. there's some intricate work on these stones which has done well to survive so intact. nice PoV..

@jorlam Thank you! Fascinating place, lived nearby for nearly 20 years and only ever driven past. 365 is doing me good!

@fbailey most folk do not know what is around them in their own locale.. their minds are too busy with 'what i want next'..
photography is a great medium for waking folk out of their lethargy and altering their views/opinions/perceptions etc.. plus it gets one out and about - exercise.. i'm pleased for you that you find it stimulating.. i enjoy viewing your shots/images..
