Marbled White on seedhead by fbailey

Marbled White on seedhead

Taken on 28.06.17 (date on camera not working, some 20 years out of date!)

I was so surprised to be able to take this picture with only an 18-55mm kit lens. This little chap just stayed where he was while I crept nearer and nearer. Then I tripped on a root and he flew off!
Beautiful and detailed shot...Fav

With a shot like that I'm not sure you need to worry about a zoom lens 🙂

@johnsutton Thanks very much! This little butterfly was so nonplussed by my presence, I've never had such an accommodating subject:)

This is so good with just a kit lens. Did you use a close up lens in addition? It is so difficult to get a clear shot without a close up or macro. Fav

Absolutely awesome detail and PoV.. your choice of f-stop was inspired, it gives such a fabulous separation between background and butterfly.. which, in turn adds a great feeling of depth to the image.. composition looks spot on too..

@suesouthwood Oh thank you! Just a kit lens. I got as close as I thought he'd tolerate then stood still but moved the camera towards him. Very hit and miss!
