Holy Ghost Alley is a cut through in a row of houses not far from the old Gaol. It's tiny, narrow and twists, reminded me of Daphne du Maurier's 'Don't Look Back' ... you practically have to breathe in if someone else is coming in the opposite direction. Not a place to visit after dark!
@gijsje@brennieb Thank you, glad you liked it! @yrhenwr Thanks for commenting - yes, whoops, I noticed that after I'd added to the site. Think it must have been on the lens (I shall find out shortly for sure!). My elderly much loved but much abused Nikon badly needs cleaning. There's a lot of dust on the sensor and I nearly always have to use the easer tool.
@peadar Thanks for your comments Peter, am happy you liked it enough to ask re processing. I shot in RAW and used a Nik free filter which I downloaded a few months back. This particular one is in the Color Efex section and is called Black Gold. Hope this helps, Felicity
This is a great shot and the processing is perfect for the bit of creepiness the alley would have at night. The sky and the open window add additional interest.
How beautiful and interesting.. love the myriad textures and the excellent PoV.. the wispy clouds are lovely as is the shadow sneaking it's way across the door.. it's a very effective image..
@bigmxx@littleconnie@haskar@jorlam Thanks very much indeed - it was very photogenic but made me feel very claustrophobic even in bright sunshine. The house next door is called Holy Ghost Alley House too.
Interesting! An alley through a building rather than between two buildings. Any idea why they called it the "Holy Ghost" Alley? It does look particularly narrow! FAV
@gardenfolk Thank you! I went down that alley and had to breathe in when a chap came from the other direction - very narrow and claustrophobic, couldn't wait to get out again:)

@suesouthwood Thanks Sue, it even looked slightly sinister in bright sunlight.
