Pavilion over the river

Taken at the local nature reserve in Dover. For the Flash of Red 2018 theme with emphasis on muted lighting.

I love taking long exposure shots of moving water and because I don't have an ND filter, I rely on taking this type of shot either just before dawn or before dusk. The emphasis on muted light was perfect for an attempt at photographing this little waterfall as the ornamental lake a little further upstream has only just been refilled after cleaning and the little waterfall has only just started running again.

Using as a filler as I have a couple of gaps this month!
Great shot!

Great shot. Of course the water looks good but I like the grass to the right even more. This is a perfect spot for photography.

Love this and the water is lovely. I must learn how to do this.

@suesmith With me it's been just trial and error. You need a slow enough shutter speed to blur the water and if the image is blown out, just increase the f stop. Sometimes I'll remember to adjust the ISO but not always! You can always play with the exposure on the computer later. It's something I've only dabbled in but it's such fun when it works:)

@fbailey thanks, I’ll have a go when it’s not sub zero temperatures!

Nice one and successful silky water. (Have you seen all the trees they have cut down? I was horrified!)

@redandwhite Yes, it's looking quite bald in places. They must have a reason for doing so - disease or possibly overcrowding. Karen is equally up in arms.

You've done a great job on the water considering you don't have a filter. Lovely shot.

This has so much contrast in it. Not only color, but also texture, with that bit of mirror like water through the archway.

Lovely processing.

Great water movement capture. Need to get over to Russell Gardens and Kearsney Abbey sometime
